Does the murder of our liberties even make a sound?\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EWas there really such a year as 2020?\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn his \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.nobelprize.org\/prizes\/literature\/2005\/pinter\/25621-harold-pinter-nobel-lecture-2005\"\u003ENobel Prize acceptance speech\u003C\/a\u003E in 2005, the playwright Harold Pinter had this to say about every atrocity concealed by the Western press:\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cblockquote\u003E\u003Ci\u003EIt never happened. Nothing ever happened. Even while it was happening it wasn't happening. It didn't matter. It was of no interest.\u003C\/i\u003E\u003C\/blockquote\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAnd so much never happened this past year!\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EFour-fifths of the United States of America suspended democracy and declared the Bill of Rights obsolete. The United Kingdom \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/uk\/home-news\/million-mask-march-lockdown-arrests-london-police-b1626808.html\"\u003Eunleashed\u003C\/a\u003E a new sort of \"police\" - faces masked, truncheons in their paws - to maul peaceful protesters for the crime of breathing. In parts of Australia, it became \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-australia-54007824\"\u003Ea criminal offense\u003C\/a\u003E to tell other people the time and place of a political demonstration. Germany \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/german-constitutional-court-upholds-ban-on-anti-lockdown-protest\/a-55831516\"\u003Eoutlawed political protest\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EBut none of that happened. It wasn't reported in the mainstream press. It was of no interest.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn just over nine months, economies in once-wealthy countries were reduced to ruin. Social media reeled under systematic \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/23ODm\"\u003Ethought-policing\u003C\/a\u003E. Following a wave of \"executive orders\" that shuttered small businesses across the United States, an unprecedented number of Americans began to \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.foodandwine.com\/news\/shoplifting-groceries-increase-pandemic\"\u003Esteal food\u003C\/a\u003E to survive. In the U.K., UNICEF is \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/society\/2020\/dec\/16\/unicef-feed-hungry-children-uk-first-time-history?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other&fbclid=IwAR2skACmTlDQVJKZjm_sh8cSdGUWS93cAEMdfBMkYBi_SglsDhpK2YbtKzY\"\u003Edistributing food to hungry children\u003C\/a\u003E for the first time in more than 70 years. Around the world, people in need still \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/milwaukeenns.org\/2020\/06\/25\/health-care-leaders-urge-patients-to-resume-treatments-delayed-by-covid-19\"\u003Ecan't get medical treatment\u003C\/a\u003E. Cultural institutions have been shattered. The performing arts have been banned. \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2020\/08\/10\/888945949\/is-singing-together-safe-in-the-era-of-coronavirus-not-really-experts-say\"\u003ESinging\u003C\/a\u003E was deemed a public health risk.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIt didn't matter.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThis year, for the first time in history, more than 40 governors in the U.S. awarded themselves quasi-dictatorial powers - on the strength of laws hastily designed less than 20 years ago for \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/core.ac.uk\/download\/pdf\/56355374.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"\u003Emassive bioterrorism\u003C\/a\u003E attacks, \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.aclu.org\/print\/node\/24150\"\u003Epressed into service\u003C\/a\u003E to counter a medical \"emergency\" that was never an emergency. By the end of 2020, most of the American population was still living under dictatorial rule.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThat was of no interest.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EHuge numbers of people, in Europe as in America, were placed (without a court order) under virtual house arrest. This was called a protective measure - and it was reported as such, though the practice violated civil-rights rulings \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/constitutioncenter.org\/interactive-constitution\/blog\/covid-19-and-the-constitution-key-takeaways\"\u003Egoing back nearly a century\u003C\/a\u003E. Tens of millions of people saw their livelihoods snatched from them by officials they never even had the opportunity to confront.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EYes, a handful of states that did not imprison their populations or wreck their economies claimed to have medical results as good as - if not better than - neighboring states that did both. Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson went so far as to assert all this on May 5 in the editorial pages of the \u003Ci\u003EWashington Post\u003C\/i\u003E, a main purveyor of coronavirus propaganda. But those claims were never investigated in the mainstream press. They didn't matter.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ENow the mega-corporations that supported the \"lockdowns\" are sucking the life out of the small-business economy that was once the mainstay of the free world. For restaurants, the picture is so bleak that \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/12\/18\/politics\/what-matters-end-of-restaurants\/index.html\"\u003Echef and author Edward Lee\u003C\/a\u003E calls it \u003Ci\u003E\"the end of the independent restaurant era,\"\u003C\/i\u003E and warns that...\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cblockquote\u003Ewe will lose the culture of all of our American cities.... [W]e will become a nation of corporate chain restaurants that will look and taste the same in every city.\u003C\/blockquote\u003E\u003Cp\u003ECulture is under attack from other directions as well. London's theatres, heirs to one of the proudest dramatic traditions in the world, are \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.londontheatre.co.uk\/theatre-news\/west-end-features\/full-list-of-london-theatre-productions-affected-by-coronavirus\"\u003Eclosed\u003C\/a\u003E for the first time \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.thestage.co.uk\/long-reads\/from-pandemics-to-puritans-when-theatre-shut-down-through-history-and-how-it-recovered#:~:text=In 1642, the Puritan-led,well as the 17th century.\"\u003Ein modern history\u003C\/a\u003E - and whether \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/stage\/2020\/may\/04\/cameron-mackintosh-coronavirus-west-end-theatres-closed-till-2021\"\u003Ethey will ever open again\u003C\/a\u003E depends upon the whims of politicians. Musicians and other artists have been \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.rand.org\/blog\/2020\/07\/the-pandemic-is-a-disaster-for-artists.html\"\u003Edevastated\u003C\/a\u003E by \"social distancing\" rules that never made any sense and have never been obeyed \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/11\/18\/politics\/gavin-newsom-french-laundry-california-governor\/index.html\"\u003Eby the powerful\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThat doesn't matter, either.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn respectable society, it can't even be talked about.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe U.K. Labour Party's Angela Rayner - last seen \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/uk\/politics\/labour-angela-rayner-antisemitism-thousands-suspended-jeremy-corbyn-b1763577.html\"\u003Ethreatening to expel\u003C\/a\u003E \u003Ci\u003E\"thousands and thousands\"\u003C\/i\u003E of members who don't think their country should be governed by Israel - is now \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.barrons.com\/news\/uk-ministers-under-fire-as-unicef-helps-to-feed-children-01608143109\"\u003Egrousing\u003C\/a\u003E that...\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cblockquote\u003E[o]ur children should not have to rely on humanitarian charities that are used to operating in war zones and in response to natural disasters.\u003C\/blockquote\u003E\u003Cp\u003EYou'd never guess that the self-righteous Rayner actually \u003Ci\u003Esupported\u003C\/i\u003E the economy-wrecking madness that caused this deepening poverty - in fact, back in May, she wanted \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/ca.style.yahoo.com\/angela-rayner-boris-johnson-slogan-143616261.html\"\u003Eeven stricter police-state tactics\u003C\/a\u003E than those the government imposed.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EGovernments \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/coronavirus\/0,9753,7-406-98163-522625--,00.html\"\u003Elied to us\u003C\/a\u003E throughout the year about the nature of the medical threat we faced, about what they planned to do about it, and about what it was going to \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/06\/10\/how-to-prevent-the-coming-coronavirus-tsunami-of-evictions.html\"\u003Ecost us\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EFormerly-esteemed scientists tried to tell us that the hype made no sense. \u003Ci\u003E\"We're falling into a trap of sensationalism,\"\u003C\/i\u003E Stanford University's \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/dc-md-va\/2020\/12\/16\/john-ioannidis-coronavirus-lockdowns-fox-news\"\u003EJohn Ioannidis said\u003C\/a\u003E as early as March 23. \u003Ci\u003E\"We have gone into a complete panic state.\"\u003C\/i\u003E The interview containing those comments was soon banned by Youtube, even though Ioannidis is universally recognized as \"one of the world's foremost epidemiologists.\"\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EProminent scientists who signed the \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/gbdeclaration.org\"\u003EGreat Barrington Declaration\u003C\/a\u003E suffered a similar fate, \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/conservatives-pull-google-into-their-plan-to-let-people-1845371054\"\u003Esmeared\u003C\/a\u003E as fringe elements promoting \"craven lunacy\" and a \"brutal\" attempt to \"let people die\" - in other words, as Nazis.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EBut that wasn't name-calling. And it wasn't censorship, either - even though Reddit's moderators promptly \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.aier.org\/article\/reddits-censorship-of-the-great-barrington-declaration\"\u003Ebanned\u003C\/a\u003E the Declaration. Such facts mustn't be mentioned. Breathe the word \"censorship\" and you're a right-wing fanatic.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ESpeaking of fanaticism, though: an 18-year-old American college student is \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/12\/18\/us\/college-student-prison-cayman-islands\/index.html\"\u003Ebehind bars\u003C\/a\u003E at this moment in the Cayman Islands. Her crime? Watching - by herself - as her boyfriend competed in his last jet-skiing race of the year, after she had received not one but two negative tests for COVID19. It seems other people attending the race snitched on the woman, resulting in a four-month prison sentence for cutting short a fourteen-day \"quarantine\" - one that was issued without a court order, of course.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EOnce upon a time, we would have called those snitches \"collaborators,\" if not \"heartless fanatics.\" Now their actions are praised by newspapers and prosecutors alike: after all, they were protecting the public \"health\" by putting a young woman in prison.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ENew vaccines for COVID19 are another way of protecting the public health, of course - they have nothing whatsoever to do with the \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.marketplace.org\/2020\/11\/12\/how-much-could-pfizer-make-from-a-covid-19-vaccine\"\u003Ebillions of dollars\u003C\/a\u003E pharmaceuticals companies are likely to make from selling them.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ENever mind that the Food and Drug Administration \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.ama-assn.org\/delivering-care\/public-health\/covid-19-vaccines-dive-deep-emergency-use-authorization\"\u003Ehad to short-circuit its own rules\u003C\/a\u003E in order to authorize their use. Never mind that the manufacturers had to be \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/12\/16\/covid-vaccine-side-effects-compensation-lawsuit.html\"\u003Epromised\u003C\/a\u003E that \"for the next four years, [they] cannot be sued for money damages in court over injuries related to the administration or use\" of their new vaccines - a blanket legal immunity that is \u003Ci\u003E\"very rare,\"\u003C\/i\u003E according to a prominent labor attorney. (Oh, and you can't sue the FDA either.)\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ENone of that matters. None of that is of interest.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThat's why CNN's \"political analyst,\" Joe Lockhart, could recently \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/12\/18\/opinions\/tucker-carlson-vaccine-rant-should-be-called-out-news-lockhart\/index.html\"\u003Einsist\u003C\/a\u003E that the government ought to prevent Tucker Carlson from stating inconvenient facts about those vaccines on his Fox News program. The First Amendment doesn't matter any more, you see. Joe Lockhart says so. He's a representative of a press outlet calling for government censorship of another press outlet - for expressing an opinion he doesn't agree with.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAnd? Has anyone in the \"free press\" complained about Lockhart's breathtaking treachery - attacking the Constitution's press protections while handing over a colleague to the Thought Police? Not as far as I know.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EBecause, you see, none of it happened.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EJust like the rest of the coronavirus coup. Even while it was happening, it wasn't happening.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIt didn't matter that all the recent hysteria about COVID19 \"cases\" was based on the results of a manifestly \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/off-guardian.org\/2020\/11\/20\/portuguese-court-rules-pcr-tests-unreliable-quarantines-unlawful\"\u003Eunreliable testing procedure\u003C\/a\u003E. It didn't matter that inexpensive and effective treatment for the disease \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.healio.com\/news\/primary-care\/20201208\/this-was-a-gift-to-us-ivermectin-effective-for-covid19-prophylaxis-treatment\"\u003Emay already be available\u003C\/a\u003E, with no serious side effects, from drugs like ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine. When the \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.theautochannel.com\/news\/2020\/12\/10\/922677-senate-testimony-dr-pierre-kory-ivermectin-miracle-drug-to-treat.html\"\u003Ehighly-credentialed Dr. Pierre Kory\u003C\/a\u003E tried to interest Congress in the use of these medications - from which no one stands to benefit except those suffering the worst cases of COVID19 - he was the target of an astonishing smear by the ranking Democrat on the Senate Homeland Security Committee.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThat was typical of official reaction, though: after a group of physicians announced the promising results of the same drugs on December 4...\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cblockquote\u003Eno major U.S. media outlets reported [their] pleas for help from the federal government to act... Nor did any representative from the CDC, the NIH or the World Health organization contact them,\u003C\/blockquote\u003E\u003Cp\u003Eaccording to one of the rare \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.newswise.com\/coronavirus\/dr-pierre-kory-president-of-the-flccc-alliance-testifies-before-senate-committee-on-homeland-security-and-governmental-affairs-looking-into-early-outpatient-covid-19-treatment\"\u003Ealternative news sources\u003C\/a\u003E that bothered to report the story.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ESo the unproven vaccines will roll out everywhere; Big Pharma will get even richer; poor people will be allowed to die. As manufactured claims of rising \"case\" numbers stoke renewed hysteria, government after government will subject its citizens to further mass house arrests, even though the experience of \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/off-guardian.org\/2020\/12\/19\/how-belarus-exposes-the-lockdown-lie\"\u003EBelarus\u003C\/a\u003E - which did not impose \"lockdowns\" - strongly suggests that the mass-incarceration strategy does more harm than good.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ETo those in power, all this is of no interest.
