One involves a black Christian pastor in Dearborn, Michigan, who warned that "we have lost this city" to Sharia law. The second concerns a Nigerian-born "racism czar" in Ireland who just told the Irish to stop emphasizing their "Irish" language (She meant Gaelic.)

It was 53 years ago that Jean Raspail wrote The Camp of the Saints in an attempt to wake up the French nation to the future challenge they would face. The French response was to dismiss Raspail's effort as a dystopian novel and do nothing. Today five decades later Marine Le Pen, leader of France's only French nationalist party, is the most popular political leader in France.

The formerly sleepy suburb of Menlo Park where I live, made a sudden appearance on everyone's radar in 2011 when Facebook moved in. Then-Mayor Rich Cline presciently called it: "the single biggest event in our town's history." And we're about to make national headlines once more, since we're facing what amounts to a hostile takeover by progressive change agents, through a perfect storm of political chicanery coupled with undue influence by big monied interests.

Most people ask the wrong question entirely. They imagine collapse as a cinematic event-fireballs on the horizon, zombies at the perimeter, some dramatic moment when the protagonist grabs a bug-out bag and flees toward salvation. Reality moves slower. It whispers before it screams. Systems fray at the edges long before they snap at the center, and by the time the average person recognizes the pattern, the exits have narrowed to chokepoints.

More than half a century after Apollo, NASA's continuing struggle to return people to the lunar surface raises questions that deserve far more scrutiny.
In July 1969, NASA told the world that Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin had travelled approximately 240,000 miles from Earth, descended to the lunar surface, walked on the Moon, launched from it, rendezvoused with a spacecraft in lunar orbit and returned safely to Earth.
