Le New-York Times rapportait que «le cartel de los Soles avait réussi à faire entrer clandestinement des tonnes de cocaïne aux États-Unis sans pratiquement aucun contrôle jusqu'à ce qu'Hugo Chávez emprisonne le général qui avait dirigé le cartel et expulse la DEA (l'agence fédérale US de lutte contre le narcotrafic) du Venezuela, à partir de ce moment-là, il est devenu courant d'y financer des sabotages d'usines, des coups d'État militaires et, finalement, des projets d'attentats terroristes, sous prétexte qu'il s'agissait d'un «narco-État»».

I tend to regard all Democrats as communist, because all of them believe that justice consists of burdening working people with the food, housing, and medical needs of the nonworking. I am referring to welfare programs, such as SNAP benefits, subsidized and rent controlled housing, and medical care provided by taxes on employed peoples earnings.

Le grand quotidien états-unien ne peut guère être soupçonné, en tout cas dans cette affaire, de malveillance anti-Trump, lui qui avait estimé au cours du dernier week-end que l'illégalité, pourtant flagrante, de la violation du droit international (et même états-unien) par Trump, pouvait « se discuter ».
