I was a fan of the sitcom Barney Miller. My favorite character was Detective Arthur Dietrich, who was played by Steve Landesberg. What I remember were his very dry comments delivered in a deadpan, monotone. (see Best of Dietrich)

Last Monday, a day before the Republican-controlled House passed a resolution condemning socialism, the Pentagon's Office of Strategic Capital announced that it had acquired a 35 percent stake in North American Blue Energy Partners, one of Venezuela's largest private oil producers.
In the deal, the Venezuela government gives the company a hundred years lease for some oil fields.

This year the theme was "Front Row at the Revolution" and the circa 500 attendees that filled the Hilton Hotel ballroom certainly got what the gathering's theme sought to deliver.
