The Smell of the Grocery Store
By Allan Stevo
June 29, 2026
Those who have lived in the Third World know the smell of a high-end Third World grocery store. If it has ready access to the produce, it tends to have that smell of rotting produce in the air. It is a slight smell, but a present smell. And in the Second World, that is how many of the grocery stores smell too. Somewhere under the roof of that grocery store is, or has recently been, rotting produce and the store seems infused with the smell.

"The difficulty lies not in the new ideas, but in escaping the old ones." - John Maynard Keynes
If you have a 401(k), buy gas, or wonder why your grocery and utility bills keep rising, look no further than the invisible machine running our global economy.
For most of the 20th century, that machine ran on gold.
Europe's Boiling Frogs
Like clockwork, it gets hot in summer in western Europe. And like clockwork, the morons in the European ministries blame climate change for their own failure to face reality and make proper provisions for adapting to it.

We all know the myth - to boil frogs, slowly increase the temperature so they won't realize it until it's too late to jump out of the pot and save themselves.

Yesterday I wrote about how immigrant-invader federal judge Sparkle Sooknanan from Trinidad and Tobago, a Biden last-minute DEA appointment, blocked President Trump from using the federal database to limit voting in US elections to American citizens.
Today I am writing about the two journalists who reported the story. Judging by their names, Fatima Hussein and Ali Swenson, they are also immigrant-invaders.

Moon of Alabama
June 29, 2026
In the last days there were two developments in Lebanon and Iran that will likely cause the war to reignite into a much larger conflagration.
Iran insists on having control over the Strait of Hormuz. But at least half of the passage way is under Oman's jurisdiction.
Oman is, unlike Iran, a member of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and has as such a different view of the international law with regards to the Strait situation.

The "Golden Dome" is effectively obsolete long before it ever materializes and becomes operational. The Trump administration describes hypersonic missiles as "the most catastrophic threat facing the United States". However, instead of engaging in dialogue and diplomacy with Moscow and Beijing, Washington DC keeps escalating tensions with both (often simultaneously).
