ils parlaient la langue de leurs électeurs, partageaient leurs références, incarnaient leurs aspirations devant des instances parfois lointaines.

L'Occident moderne parle sans cesse de démocratie, de procédures et de valeurs partagées, mais sous le vernis des comités et des conférences, un autre climat se dessine. Le pouvoir protège souvent ses crimes par le bruit des autres crimes. L'histoire politique regorge de scandales où des abus sexuels ont été dissimulés derrière des affaires plus vastes, plus spectaculaires, plus "stratégiques". Les crimes de guerre, les intrigues d'État et les rivalités géopolitiques occupent l'espace public et relèguent au second plan des violences qui, parce qu'elles touchent à l'intime et à la honte, deviennent plus faciles à étouffer.

Just as the whore media told us for three years that Ukraine was winning and Russia's defeat was imminent, we are now hearing that Iran's defeat is imminent. If so, why is Trump now speaking about sending in American troops ? Why is the CIA offering large bribes to Kurd leaders to send Kurdish men to die for Israel in Iran ? Why are executives of American armament companies suddenly summoned to the Pentagon to see how quickly Washington's depleted supply of missiles can be overcome ? Why have Japan and South Korea been ordered to return to the United States the missiles supplied to them ? Who is really losing?

While the Iranian military cannot match the USAF in terms of sheer numbers, logistics, coordination, command & control, etc, it can still focus on a strategic asymmetric response, which explains its near-constant missile strikes on US/NATO assets and infrastructure. The Pentagon has managed to eliminate a number of missile launchers, although many of these have been decoys left for the USAF to waste its costly air-to-ground munitions on.

The Russia-Ukraine war, having just last month entered its fifth year, continues experiencing spillover effects from the Trump-ordered Operation Epic Fury in Iran. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has newly announced (overnight) that trilateral peace talks with Russia and the United States are on hold due to the Iran war.

Some of my readers have proposed that, pursuant to the 1973 War Powers Resolution, President Trump possesses full and discretionary power to use military force, and need only inform Congress that he is commencing military operations 6,000 miles away because he and his advisors think it's a good thing for someone.
The context of the War Powers Resolution was President Nixon's ongoing war in Vietnam and US Air Force's Operation Freedom Deal of bombing Cambodia.

Who else remembers learning about recycling in grade school during the '80s ? My class made posters, created campaigns, and all learned the "3 R's". It all made sense to my 9 year old brain and for about 3 decades I was a believer.
