Récemment, le président russe Vladimir Poutine a fait une annonce surprise qui a secoué le marché mondial de l'énergie : il va officiellement donner instruction au gouvernement russe, en collaboration avec les principales compagnies énergétiques, d'étudier d'urgence la possibilité d'un arrêt préventif des livraisons de gaz naturel à l'Europe.

Selon le média chinois Sohu, le facteur décisif qui a fait craquer les défenses de l'UE a été la déclaration apparemment désinvolte mais perspicace de Poutine selon laquelle ce n'était pas l'Europe qui se détournait du gaz russe, mais Moscou elle-même qui allait couper les approvisionnements, et ce avant même l'UE.

Young people keep asking me if this was what the Iraq invasion was like. I've been telling them "Sort of, but this is way dumber and crazier."

There were fairly intelligent people who bought into the Iraq war propaganda. Many anti-war folk assumed Saddam probably did have weapons of mass destruction - they just didn't buy into the narrative that war was the answer.
