The Institution We're at War With

By  Tom Woods

January 26, 2026

We're so used to living in a crazy world I don't think we stop often enough to appreciate just how crazy it is.

One example of many: parents find themselves constantly at war with, and in many cases even seceding from, the institution that is billed as creating an educated and literate society, and setting children on the road to opportunity.

That is not normal. But that is our world.

The smarter kids who graduate from these institutions can dutifully recite for you the official version and interpretation of everything. They have never heard a criticism of the New Deal, or a non-Keynesian explanation for the Great Depression, or the slightest nuance about the civil rights movement or the Great Society.

Whatever the latest ideological fad is, you can be sure the kids are being indoctrinated into it. The horror stories are legion. Perhaps you have some of your own.

I won't even bother reviewing the issues with so-called higher education. We know them all too well.

I'll say only this: the next course being released at  Liberty Classroom will cover American literature. Why ? Because just try studying American - or any other - literature at the college level without jumping out a window.

No windows will be jumped out of during our course on the subject. We are saving lives at Liberty Classroom, dear reader.

I've brought on one of the handful of sane literature Ph.D. holders in America to teach the course. It's someone I've known for over 20 years and whom I trust completely. I'll let you know when it's ready.

Imagine being a normie, or on the left, and getting to live in a world in which you don't have to double-check and be suspicious of or feel assaulted by the mainstream version of absolutely everything. Must be nice!

But then on top of the ideological weirdness, to what extent are these kids being prepared in these schools for success in 2026?

They know plenty about photosynthesis, but do they know how to manage their finances, stand out in a job search, or (much better than being in a "job search") starting a business in an AI-crazed world?

This is why I don't teach only U.S. history and Western civilization anymore. I also teach my folks the kinds of things these institutions would be teaching if they weren't lackeys of the permanent regime.

Thus I've taught how to be an effective public speaker and how not to write like a dork, as well as how to make your savings grow faster than the inflationist savages can whittle them away.

Well, I'm adding another topic, and this is one I can assure you no school will have taught you: how to minimize your tax liability.

Most people aren't actively doing this. Their accountant files the documents, and that's it. There's no planning for the purpose of getting those taxes down and keeping them there.

I've brought in one of the greats to teach you what you need to know.

Now you know the old tactic in which people inflate the "actual price" of what they're selling, so they can turn around and say, look at what a big discount I'm giving you!

Well, I don't do that. The real-world value of our tax strategy intensive is legitimately 92 percent off during the very brief early-bird window.
