Well, it could be worse, ladies and gentlemen. You could be living in Spain.
Here are excerpts from what their prime minister had to say the other day:
Starting next week, my government will implement the following actions: First, we will change the law in Spain to hold platform executives legally accountable for many infringements taking place on their sites.
Who knows what these "infringements" are, or what this even means.
Second, we will turn algorithmic manipulation and amplification of illegal content into a new criminal offense.
What "illegal content," exactly ? Well, he also criticizes social media as "a place where laws are ignored and where disinformation is worth more than truth," so that should give you an idea. (What record do the world's governments have when it comes to "disinformation," you might ask.)
He alleges that "the owner of X, himself a migrant, used his personal account to amplify disinformation about the sovereign decision of my government to regularize 500,000 migrants who live, work, and contribute to the success of our country."
What the prime minister in fact did was add half a million Third Worlders to the voter rolls, to suppress the voices of native Spaniards, and he doesn't like when people point that out.
Third, we will implement a hate and polarization footprint system to track, quantify, and expose how digital platforms fuel division and amplify hate.
You don't need me to explain this one to you. If you dislike the way in which your country is being transformed, it is "hate" to say so. If you cite evidence that various indicators of social health are deteriorating as a result, that, too, is "hate." By contrast, it is never "hate" when the majority population is slandered and demonized. This works only one way.
The prime minister's remarks go on in this way.
This is how the left intends to operate now: they will decide what constitutes "disinformation," even as they themselves lie 24 hours a day, and they will decide what constitutes "hate," thereby enforcing the biggest double standard in world history.
Cannot give these people an inch.
