Demoralization Operations

I've read that an effective torture technique is to demoralize the subject. This can be done (as at Abu Ghraib) by stripping the subject naked and (if he is male) having a woman mock him. Or the reverse. There are also subtler ways to demoralize someone. Perhaps the most effective way being to make him feel powerless to do anything about what's being done to him. Consider, in this vein, what's being done to the American people. To us.

It's all-but-certain the Old Dirty Turtle is mentally incapacitated. On Aug. 7, after almost two months since his "fall" and bout of "minor pneumonia," a statement was released under his byline claiming he was headed home to continue his "rehabilitation." It's so obviously a lie, which is why it is so demoralizing. If the Old Dirty Turtle were mentally able to put together a short letter then he is able to deal with an interviewer. Unless, of course, he no longer possesses the power of speech. Even so, there are ways around that (viz, Stephen Hawking). If the lights are on, it is not all that difficult to establish that someone is home. Almost certainly, there is no one home anymore. Anyone who has had a very elderly (the Old Dirty Turtle is 84) relative knows almost certainly what's going on. Almost anyone with degree of common sense suspects what is going on. It is going on right in our faces - but what can we do about it ? They laugh at us, right in our faces.

Dr. Evil is another for-instance.

That he is guilty of heinous (because deliberate and malicious) acts is obvious as OJ's heinousness. Like OJ, Dr. Evil is immune from meaningful consequences. To demoralize us, they brought him before Congress and made a show of showing us just how heinous he is - after which he walked out a free man. You can hear that nebbish from Office Space mumbling about how he was promised there would be cake... .

Similarly, the rope-a-dope public was promised that there would be - at the very least - testimony. After all, Dr. Evil had been immunized by the last president from prosecution for his heinous acts and thus - so the public was assured - he'd have to testify. As everyone knows, he didn't. He smugly sat there for awhile refusing to testify. Meanwhile, if a Flock camera notices that our car's safety inspection sticker is out of date, a cop will be alerted to makes sure we are punished for that. It is pretty goddamn demoralizing, isn't it?

Then there's the Epstein Business, if you needed another for-instance.

The Great Orange Champion - when he was seeking a return to office - made serial promises that this business would be exposed. Given the extreme unsavoryness of this business - not so much the old men banging much-younger rent girls but the greasy connections to Israeli intelligence and the Zionist octopus - there was a tremendous hope that said Octopus would be exposed and America thereby restored. Instead, America was pushed into a war by (and for) the octopus. You can once again hear the nebbish's voice... we were promised the files would be released. The golem of the octopus sneers at us, right in our faces. It was all a hoax ! Also, Iran is on the cusp of developing a nuclear weapon; never mind the previous assertion that American bombing runs had destroyed Iran's nuclear capabilities.

There's no "affordability" crisis ! The stock market has never been higher ! America is in its golden age ! If you don't see it, then you're a doomer and a gloomer.

Eventually, the ship goes down - along with the swimmer tied to it.

The demoralized live on hope that it'll all be ok at some vague point in the never-arriving tomorrow. So long as they keep hoping, of course, it will never arrive. In order to make it arrive, it is necessary to cut the goddamned rope and swim away from the sinking ship.
