Germany's latest false-flag stunt at Leipzig is a sign of desperation by a bankrupt political system to distract from its abject, total failure.
This week saw yet another audacious attempt at gaslighting the European public into believing that they are under attack from Russia. This is War Propaganda 101.
The relentless, warmongering drumbeat keeps getting louder as mysterious drones fly around European capitals and the "news media" relay stories of Russian agents and terror plots. We are witnessing an Orwellian system akin to his dystopian novel, Nineteen Eighty-Four.
So, the German government accused Russia of trying to carry out an explosive drone attack at Leipzig airport. There was zero evidence to back up the provocative allegation. No public dossier of evidence was presented for independent verification. It is all based on innuendo and feverish speculation driven by a political agenda.
Ironically, the real aviation terrorism story this week was the NATO- and EU-backed Kiev regime's implicit threat to shoot down civilian airliners in Russian airspace. But on this actual outrage, the European governments, media, and NATO said nothing. Their silence is complicity and self-indicting.
On the Leipzig lark, for anyone still capable of critical thinking and healthy scepticism, the whole affair smacks of orchestration: a psychological operation.
The alleged incident was the "discovery" of a drone and explosives at Leipzig/Halle airport in eastern Germany on August 4. It was reportedly in a security zone near a Ukrainian Antonov cargo plane. For the past month, the German media has been willingly played like a fiddle to create a mounting sense of suspense and drama that Russia was behind the alleged attack.
Then - drum roll, please - the finale was unveiled this week when German Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt and Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul both gave a much-publicized press conference in Berlin that "confirmed" Russia as the culprit.
A crescendo of political and media reaction was as predictable as it was scripted. Condemnations poured out from European political leaders denouncing Russia's "hybrid warfare." Russian ambassadors were summoned for rebuke, and various consulates and cultural centers were sanctioned. The carnival of overreaction belies the premeditated purpose.
Moscow slammed the "absurd" accusations and countermanded European ambassadors to protest "anti-Russian conduct."
Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was in Kyrgyzstan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, ridiculed the German authorities for staging a false-flag provocation by "planting evidence" to incriminate Russia. Seriously, how easy would it be for NATO or its Ukrainian surrogates to drop a drone on the tarmac to be conveniently "discovered" ? Leipzig is a major NATO security and supply hub.
Putin astutely noted that a crisis was being contrived, in part, to distract from the pathetic unpopularity of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and his coalition government. That is certainly a plausible factor. Indeed, Merz is scorned by record numbers of German voters. His government is challenged by the rising Alternative für Deutschland party, which is tipped to win its first state election this weekend in Saxony-Anhalt. AfD has tapped into huge opposition to Berlin's support for the NATO proxy war in Ukraine against Russia. It seems significant that Leipzig airport is in Saxony-Anhalt. The month-long "drone affair", driven by media fearmongering, seems to be a ploy to influence the state election.
However, the issue is much bigger than German politics. The reflexive response from the European establishment to the Leipzig false-flag operation speaks of a wider, systemic crisis. Politician after politician lined up to deliver boilerplate statements condemning Russia and declaring solidarity with Germany. France's Macron, Italy's Meloni, Poland's Tusk, among others, all joined the vociferous chorus. Even Britain's Andy Burnham piped up, as if to further ingratiate London with the European Union. Their statements were remarkably similar, expressing condemnation of Russia for trying to "divide" Europe, undermine "unity" and weaken "support" for Ukraine.
The real subtext here is that the political establishment is perplexed by the public across Europe being weary and incredulous of the constant warmongering.
Along with NATO chief Mark Rutte and the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, there were intensified, strident calls for greater European military defenses and aid to Ukraine to defeat "Russian aggression".
It's not just Germany that is in political crisis over public contempt for government. All across Europe, political establishments are being held up for derision. A large cause of discontent is the senseless waste of public money in fueling the proxy war in Ukraine, which is leading to an all-out war on the continent with Russia, a nuclear power.
Europe is heading towards economic implosion, as Lena Petrova and other informed analysts have pointed out. The anti-Russia policy that has obsessed European governments and media has destroyed the economic foundations of industry and society.
Hundreds of billions of Euros have been funneled to prop up a corrupt, NeoNazi regime in Ukraine. Despite the criminal largesse and weaponry, the regime is teetering on defeat. Yet the European and NATO establishment wants to funnel even more money into the proxy war. The chatter in Brussels is that the latest EU loan of €90 billion drawn up earlier this year will not be enough. There is no end to this insatiable transfusion of public money to shore up a corrupt regime and subsidize the profits of the military-industrial complex at the rotten heart of Western capitalism. European workers and taxpayers are being bled dry, and future generations are being enslaved to a NeoNazi project.
For the ruling political class, there is only one way out of the quagmire it has made, and that is by escalating war tensions and pretexts for continuing the criminal extortion of societies. European governments can't admit their crimes, so they must keep escalating.
Europe is being dragged into war with constant propaganda and gaslighting. The dutiful corporate media peddle reports of alleged Russian drone infractions in European airspace and sabotage operations on infrastructure. Just this week, German authorities claimed that a "foreign power" was behind the alleged explosives attack on electrical installations. Meanwhile, the government in Poland claims a fire at a factory supplying drones to Ukraine was caused by Russian agents, and Swedish authorities announce preparations for mass burials in the event of war with Russia.
Needless to say, European governments and media are not serving democratic interests. Far from it. They are behaving as a dictatorship of elite control over their populations, trying to shore up crumbling authority by using the "war card" over and over again as a means of control.
