When assessing Israel's recent demand for 40,000 MK-84 and BLU-117 2000 pound of munitions, I misspoke in an interview this week. I left out the 20,000 I-2000 penetrator bombs they also requested, and assumed that Israel couldn't drop those munitions without even more US taxpayer help.
But the US taxpayer was way ahead of me. We've already provided the IDF with the aircraft needed to drop MK-84s, their near twin the BLU-117, as well as the deep penetrator munitions. In just under three years of bombing the tiny Gaza Strip, the IDF has burned over 225,000 tons of such munitions, effecting 15 Hiroshimas. Consistent with American values, no town or city in Gaza has been ignored or left out.
It's never enough for Israel, or for the United States, given the convenience of never having to pay for anything using real money. That's on future unborn American workers; we the living don't have the cash, what with $40 trillion in current "must pay" US federal debt.
An added convenience of these massive conventional weapons is that they tend to vaporize the bodies, so our allies don't have to search for the dead, or worse, count the civilian dead and lie about their terrorist status afterwards. It's a real advantage for both the US and Israel, as we seek to avoid the use of nuclear weapons. People these days can be so judgy!
Congress as a whole has not asked why Israel needs these bombs, much less why we should pay for them up front. Because we are effectively out of PAC 3 intercepters and other desired systems, maybe the Israelis said they'd settle for five more Hiroshima's worth of glide bombs. Israeli treats defense as offense, and explains offensive operations and territorial expansion as "purely defensive." While simplifying war operations, and shielding 80 years of a calculated state policy of apartheid and land theft from public scrutiny, this creates a bit of a problem for a democratic country that suffers a national draft into that defensive/offensive maw. As with all military conscription, it allows the very rich to keep their children safe. However, unlike the one the United States ended on June 30th, 1973, it also, by law, exempts the children of the poorest and least well-educated in Israeli society. Good thing we have lots of potential soldiers here to fight their wars.
The moral and ethical gymnastics conducted by Israel, and Israel's sponsors in Washington, as they pursue endless war, theft of resources, genocide of the native population, and manipulation of the more stupid sectors of Western Protestantry are certainly spectacular, and often entertaining. But beneath the policy, the strategy, the bombs and the genocide, a different kind of confusion is being encouraged.
For Americans, this confusion relates not to entangling alliances we know about; as George Washington advised, we loosen our grip or reject them outright once we recognize them and debate their always limited merits. NATO, for example, is an entangling alliance, that has been painted for many decades as a costly one for American taxpayers, one that as Trump has repeatedly noted ( at least publicly ), fails to serve our wishes or our needs. Our post World War II alliance with Japan, as it has always been, is transactional, something Scott Bessent knows well. The same could be said for our alliances with South Korea, or Qatar, or Oman, or Jordan, or Turkey.
One of Jimmy Dore's jokes at the recent 25th anniversary of 9/11 Turning the Tide event related to the US alliance with Saudi Arabia, home of 15 of the 19 hijackers. Pointing to the benefits of 9/11, he noted that we found out how quickly we can safely remove Saudi officials and their families from the US, even when all the flights are shut down. After 25 years, this minor detail seemed largely forgotten, but remains woven into our national memory - and we question this alliance today more than ever.
When Americans know who our government's friends are, we have an opinion. A government's betrayal of the people who make that government possible through confiscated productivity, political consent, and the lives and limbs of their children sent to serve it, is not nothing. Kings have lost their crowns, and their heads, for far less than what the denizens in DC do every single day along these lines.
I was only a little shocked to see that the FBI, so lauded in Hollywood scripts and yet so corrupt and useless that Bret Weinstein recently suggested we would be better off simply eliminating it , will now accept agents who have been p articipants (or victims) of bestiality. It speaks to the idiocy of the FBI and the corruption of Kash Patel specifically, and is evidence that DEI is alive and well in the Trump administration. But more significantly, it speaks to the slow degeneracy of discernment and judgement that has taken place across the United States, a degeneracy that has been cultivated by the federal government, Hollywood and the media, by design.
A discerning population is far more difficult to govern than a nation of sheep. As we saw with COVID, and in the endless wars sought by the United States at the behest of, or in service to, Israel, there is a growing population of Americans, already prevalent in some generations, and emergent in others, who want to know, and upon knowing, will act.
They want to know what our government and its cronies and beneficiaries are doing, why they are doing it, and with whom they are plotting. They are measuring the state against their own personal standards and morals, and finding the state deficient, lacking, even abhorrent. They are deciding when the military or government executives assume the role of judge, jury and executioner, they need to interject.
In foreign policy news, the US is building new relationships with Somaliland, Puntland, the newly recognized "North East State," and Jubaland. These are all states in the federation of Somalia, with differing degrees of independence. As the Carter Doctrine rightfully disintegrates, the US military, integrated directly now with Israel - instead of abandoning the self-licking ice cream cone of global conflict and never-ending wars - leaves erstwhile energy bros in tatters and shifts out of West Asia towards Eastern and Northern Africa. Using age-old colonial techniques of kings and their bankers and courtiers, today modeled by presidents and prime ministers, we find Washington DC wooing sub-federal states around the world for its own ghoulish and global war purposes.
Americans have already paid far too much for 120 years of DC's perversions, poor judgment, greed and arrogance. We have become poor and practical under the weight of our non-representing government, with no end in sight to the sacrifices it will require of us. How many Americans already find themselves silently cheering a Houthi in torn sandals with a shoulder-held missile launcher, an Iranian government official who shakes his head at the insanity in Washington and stands firm, and the increasing number of people and nations of the world who are asserting their independence and sovereignty in the face of the American empire in frantic decline?
Washington DC has always disrespected federalism and sovereignty, as we see today in the Federal Republic of Somalia as much as we experience it here at home. The DC club murders whole populations, steals whatever isn't nailed down, and lies about both sets of crimes. George Washington wouldn't recognize the capitol or the foreign policy of the nation he helped establish, nor would he tolerate it, or submit to it. Neither should we.
