Ursula's drone funding: billions into the only strategy that "works' - terror. But Russia now strikes back, destroying Ukraine's logistics.
Despite the fact that Donald Trump has recently put the blame for the global diesel and aircraft fuel shortages and price hikes on Zelensky, the brilliant brains in Brussels are continuing to double down on the Kiev regime. Over the last few years we have seen a cycle of Zelensky 'begmanding' for funds, the EU elite playing a bit coy about it like prostitute pretending she's a virgin, then ultimately signing off on any debt-based funding that is demanded by the genocidal Green Goblin. This just keeps happening over and over with the media writing about each freshly started begging session as if it was something new, radical, and unique.
As part of this ongoing scheme to keep hopes alive for Europe's bureaucrats, Head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen has issued a major tweet-promise to Kiev that is also a massive middle finger to EU citizens.
This particular call to fund specifically drones and missiles instead of a more vague term like 'support the war effort' or 'provide aid' is probably due to the Russian side escalating rapidly in 2026 as a response to the war broadening to civilian targets on Russian territory. This escalation is seen by many in the West as proof that the '40 days of terror' drone campaign by Zelensky was successful, and perhaps should get more funding. But the terror campaign has also come at a cost because after Kiev began striking targets within Russia like gas stations, public transport and Wildberries warehouses, the Kremlin has seen it as fair game to put equivalent Ukrainian objects in their sights.
The Russian side has utterly demolished the Novo Poshta distribution network that was the local equivalent to Wildberries. As of early August, they have also blown up at least 250 gas stations on the present territory of Ukraine. Boris Johnson, the war starter himself, was supposedly almost killed, or at least felt some heat, right next to the Polish border while the Russian side began attacking locomotives. To be clear, I write 'locomotives' as the Russian side has seemingly decided to absolutely break any logistics potential Kiev has to pieces in 2026. Moscow's general staff has not struck any passenger train cars, just the locomotives pulling them, however those words provide little solace to the doomed engineers at the helm.
All this is to say is that now that Kiev has switched tactics from 'counter offensives' to 'terrorism' against Russia and their own former territories. The Kremlin has seen this shift in tactics as justification to strike back at a vastly broader range of targets including drone facilities in and around Kiev. The Russian side claims that they know exactly where drones and missiles are being produced both in Ukraine and the EU and thus as of autumn 2026 drone production and storage on the territory of Ukraine proper has been reduced significantly, with new videos every day coming from destroyed warehouses and other facilities that used to be protected by Kiev's civilian population surrounding them.
It has become a universally accepted truth by both sides that currently Kiev's forces lack any sort of real air defense and thus the Russians only miss their targets by rare user error or a dud drone. Even to the most delusional bureaucrats it is becoming clear that there isn't any more air defense to be distributed to Ukraine, so the one thing the West, via Ukraine, is able to produce and use to some effect are drones and cheap missiles, the production of which is cheap, fast and not particularly space demanding. The President of Finland even made it clear that attacking Wildberries was shifting public opinion in Russia. That is to say, that the EU skin suits see a lot of 'proven results' and big potential in attacking Russian civilian infrastructure with cheap drones and thus money invested into them is surely a good call. The continuous strikes by low-cost drones and missiles are the only possible picture of success for Ukraine in 2026, so why wouldn't they put more emphasis and resources onto this functional way of war?
We cannot forget that the official narrative of the West is that the Russian economy is doomed to collapse and with a little more pressure the people will rise up against Putin in order to bask in the gay glory of the superior West. Thus, at this point, it only makes sense from that way of thinking to want to throw every last cent the EU has at drone production for Ukraine as it does cause civilian suffering of various sorts in Russia proper. It gets results and it is cheap to boot!
So ultimately this tweet is very logical, from the way the world looks to Ursula von der Leyen, she is going to put funds into the strongest form of offense that Kiev has, thus it should make a difference, and possibly drag out the war till 2028 or 2030 or whenever the EU will be ready to enter it. From a bureaucratic standpoint this is a wise decision. From an objective standpoint it looks like just more money being flushed down the war toilet in another desperate attempt to prolong things until 'something changes'.
