 Sommet Russie-Turquie-Iran à Téhéran : quels enjeux ?

A multipolar presentation: President Putin and Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei

By Amarynth for the Saker Blog

The blog received a very special photo from the meeting of Pres. Putin and Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. The deep regard that these two men display toward one another in a photo not really used by the press, is palpable and it reminds me of the iconic photo of President Raisi praying in the Kremlin.

The commentary accompanying the photo describes so well the hopes of those that consider themselves part of Zone B, or in the multi polar sphere.

The weight and excitement of the current historical moment is at times just too great that it forces me to go in there and cover crucial stories that are not sufficiently being covered!

The Putin meeting with Ayatollah Khamenei, how eloquently does it encapsulate the new world, doesn't it?! The image I've attached speaks a thousand words, I'm sure you would agree. And was so good to read Ayatollah Khamenei's latest comments on Russia's decision to carry out the special operation in Ukraine. Please read if you haven't already:  presstv.ir These comments draw the two independent civilizations (Iran-led Islamic world & Russian Orthodox) even closer together and consolidate the growing alliance and friendship between the two like no other moment in history.

The coming days and weeks will be awe-inspiring to experience (and actively be a part of, in any way that we can). In this vein, we will hopefully help in the extent that is possible, to usher in the new multi-polar world of independent, powerful, and friendly nations.

I published the PressTV link yesterday underneath Mr Putin's speech. But, it did not draw attention. So, let us look at the major excerpts:

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei describes the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as "dangerous," saying that the US-led military alliance knows no boundaries and had to be stopped in Ukraine or it would have eventually started war using Crimea as a pretext.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who arrived in Tehran earlier on Tuesday to take part in a three-way summit with Iranian and Turkish presidents Ebrahim Raeisi and Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the Syria peace process.

"War is a harsh and difficult reality, and the Islamic Republic will in no way be happy if it entangles ordinary people," the Leader said.

"In the case of Ukraine, however, if you had not taken the initiative, the opposite side would have caused [the outbreak] of war with its own initiative," the Leader added, addressing the Russian president.

Ayatollah Khamenei stated that Western countries resolutely oppose a strong and independent Russia, adding that if NATO had not been stopped in Ukraine, it would have started the same war using Crimea as a pretext.

The Leader said the US and West have become weaker than before, adding that despite great efforts and spending, "their policies in regional countries, including Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine, are being less effective."

'Iran, Russia need to be vigilant in face of West's deception'

The Leader said Iran and Russia must maintain their vigilance in the face of the West's deceptive policies.

Ayatollah Khamenei also emphasized that economic cooperation between Tehran and Moscow is a necessity and will serve the two sides' interests, particularly in the wake of the West's sanctions against them. "Long-term cooperation between Iran and Russia will be deeply beneficial to both countries."

The Leader said it was paramount that the oil and gas agreements currently in the works between the two energy-rich countries are "followed through to the end and become operational."

The Leader also stressed the importance of launching Rasht-Astara railway in an effort to complete the North-South Transport Corridor and benefit both countries.

Ayatollah Khamenei voiced support for the policy of replacing the US dollar with national currencies in bilateral trade ties, saying, "The dollar should be gradually removed from global transactions."

Mr Putin's comments follow and ends with:

Iran and Russia are fighting a joint fight against terrorism in Syria, the Russian president also noted, adding that in the military sphere too the countries would try to increase their cooperation and also try to increase their cooperation and trilateral military drills with China.

This is where our attention must go! Toward this new multi-polar world of independent, powerful, and friendly nations.
