© PHILIPPE HUGUEN Source: AFP

Washington's 'Democracy Promotion' Fails Spectacularly in Venezuela

By Roger HARRIS

The Los Angeles Times reports that "the audacious gamble by the U.S. government to...restore democracy" suffered a "spectacular failure" in Venezuela. What this State Department stenographer masquerading as a newspaper considers a "democratic" setback consisted of failing to impose unknown US security asset Juan Guaidó as Venezuela's president.

This man just got the boot from his own fractious opposition group, which voted 72-29 to disband his "interim government." The Hill reports that the pretend president still claims the post and retains a "powerful network of support," although not in his home country.

Western Journalists Are Cowardly, Approval-Seeking Losers

By Caitlin JOHNSTONE

Research conducted by New York University's Center for Social Media and Politics into Russian trolling behavior on Twitter in the lead-up to the 2016 US presidential election has found "no evidence of a meaningful relationship between exposure to the Russian foreign influence campaign and changes in attitudes, polarization, or voting behavior."

Which is to say that all the years of hysterical shrieking about Russian trolls interfering in US democracy and corrupting the fragile little minds of Americans - a narrative that has been used to drum up support for internet censorship and ever-increasing US government involvement in the regulation of online speech - was false.

Will 2023 be Worse Than 2022?

🇫🇷

By Philip Giraldi

The Unz Review

January 13, 2023

Even though one has become accustomed to seeing the United States government behaving irrationally on an epic scale with no concern for what happens to the average citizen who is not a member of one of the freak show constituencies of the Democratic Party, it is still possible to be surprised or even shocked. Shortly before year's end 2022 an article appeared in the mainstream media and was quite widely circulated.

Decline of Empire: Parallels Between the Us. and Rome, Part Ii

By Doug Casey

International Man

January 13, 2023

See here for Part I

Like the Romans, we're supposedly ruled by laws, not by men. In Rome, the law started with the 12 Tablets in 451 BCE, with few dictates and simple enough to be inscribed on bronze for all to see. A separate body of common law developed from trials, held sometimes in the Forum, sometimes in the Senate.

When the law was short and simple, the saying "Ignorantia juris non excusat" (ignorance of the law is no excuse) made sense.

Ukraine and Israel

By Patrick Foy

January 13, 2023

I've been reading Raymond Chandler's The High Window for the second time. The plot is convoluted. Somehow it got me thinking about Ukraine and Israel. Both countries are complicated crime scenes of U.S. foreign policy. They will never be objectively investigated and exposed.

Like The High Window, plots and subplots embedded with events in Ukraine and Israel are confusing and loaded with smoke screens.

Tech for Me, but Not for Thee: Psalm 8 Meets Transhumanism

By Jeff Krinock

January 13, 2023

I wrote to the late, great Becky Akers about a year before her too-early passing early in 2022. I wanted to share with her my horror upon learning that an "academic" had just published a book suggesting that all of humanity should be eliminated in the cause of saving the environment. Eliminated. I was familiar enough with Becky's own work to know that she would drop her jaw (as I did) upon finding yet another ostensibly educated person pronouncing her way out of our "scientific world" right back into the realm of (supposedly discredited) metaphysical decisions.

Federal Agency Wants to Ban Gas Kitchen Stoves for « the Children »

By Daisy Luther

The Organic Prepper

January 13, 2023

How about a side of government overreach with your dinner? That will be the case if a certain federal agency has its way, because they want to ban that gas stove in your kitchen ASAP.

Of course, it's for the children.

The hullabaloo comes after a peer-reviewed study in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health attributed more than 12% of current childhood asthma cases in the United States to the use of gas cookstove.

'We Are Facing The Entire Nato In Ukraine': Kremlin Says, As Uk Mulls Battle Tanks

By Tyler Durden

Zero Hedge

January 13, 2023

Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev has issued ultra-provocative words claiming that it's not fundamentally Ukraine that Russia is at war with, but that the Russian military is facing all of NATO inside Ukraine.

"The events in Ukraine aren't a clash between Moscow and Kiev. It's a military confrontation of NATO, first of all the US and Britain, with Russia.

In the video above, John Campbell, Ph.D., a retired nurse educator, compares the contradictions between the World Health Organization's directives regarding the need for COVID shots in Africa and the actual situation on the ground.

As of December 12, 2022, the WHO was still calling on all countries to get the COVID jab into at least 70% of their populations.http://newsnet.fr/1 Its original deadline for meeting this 70% threshold was mid-2022, but by June 2022, only 58 of 194 member states had reached this target.http://newsnet.fr/2
